SHOWROOM OPENING TIMES
PART 2 - Which Of These 5 Interior Design Trends 2019 Will You Try?
In part one of this two-part article, we took a look at the colour, materials and other trends that could be coming our way in the New Year. What other trends do we see ourselves enjoying in terms of interior design in 2019?
#6 Say hello to terrazzo
Mid-century modern design has been hanging around for some time and is a style that seems happy to stay in the limelight. What will be making an appearance in interior design trends during 2019 is the return of terrazzo.
If you don’t know what terrazzo is, it is a composite material, a delicious blend of marble, quartz, granite and glass. What you get is a playful finish, perfect for floors where one lino, tiles or laminate would have been the favoured option.
But in the coming year, it is not just floors but the favoured finish for table lamp bases and much, much more.
Angles and clean lines are pleasing are they not? And whilst we lust after a clean, clear line, there is something pleasant and tactile about curves.
And so when it comes to table tops, chairs and the like, opt for items with a slight curve to the edge, rather than sharp angles and lines.
#8 Geometric patterns are here to stay (with a hint of tribal)
Geometric patterns are nothing new and there is something comforting and enjoyable about their familiarity. They also lend themselves well to every home, from the geometric patterned rug in the family living room to the non-intrusive pattern on the cushions of the bachelorette pad.
However, you may see a change with a slightly more tribal feel seeping into the pretty geometric patterns, something that won’t look out of place in any backdrop.
#9 Statement ceilings
Occasionally, something comes along that really surprises everyone and we think this will be it – and you will either love it or hate it – but statement ceilings could be the big thing in terms of interior design in 2019.
From patterned tiled wallpaper to the use of deep shades with brassy edges, we have seen some wonderful ideas coming through. Keep it simple in terms of application because when the trend passes, as it surely will, you can just whitewash over it.
#10 Really eco-friendly
And finally, this is no surprise in many ways because there is growing consumer demand for eco-friendly products and services. And when it comes to interior design, it is no different.
We expect we will see less wasteful packaging along with materials from sustainable and managed resources. It may also mark the decline of the use of plastic in furniture and the like.
But our burning question is this – which of these 10 interior design trends 2019 will you try? Why not email the team with photos of your latest trendy home additions?
