Myths About Fitted Furniture
If you are considering fitted furniture for your home or office, you are in good company. Thousands of people are already enjoying the benefits of fitted furniture in the lounge, sliding wardrobes in the bedroom and bespoke fitted office furniture.
But you may have people who try to dissuade you from fitted furniture. Here we debunk the most common myths…
You can’t take it with you!
Freestanding furniture has several benefits, one being that when you fancy a change or you move from one property to another, you load it on to a van or lorry and it comes with you.
Fitted furniture is a bespoke creation that fits a space or room perfectly. And although you can’t take it with you when you move, why would you? It was designed, measured and installed in a space so that it fits perfectly, offering new tenants or owners the same great benefits as it offers you.
It doesn’t add value at all as people just rip it out
In our experience, we find that new owners enjoy fitted furniture as much as you do because you have created a piece of furniture that is sculpturally fantastic as well as ideal for the space it occupies.
Why would you rip out a sliding door wardrobe that affords you more storage and floor space? Why would you remove the under-the-stairs storage area that makes better use of the space that a few pegs?
Fitted furniture does add desirability to a property. It gives the room a streamlined, uncluttered look and with so much storage space, people will love the benefits that it affords them too.
It is very expensive
It is a cost-effective solution to age old problems;
- Lack of storage – struggling to keep your muddy boots or maybe you have floor length ball gowns that need hanging space? Have a collection of designer shoes that you want to look after? We all covet and own different things but finding somewhere to store them is a real issue which is why designing a bespoke interior to a fitted piece of furniture is the ideal solution.
- Making best use of awkward space – those nooks and crannies are ‘features’ but for modern living, they represent a waste of space. Awkward shape and an awkward size, getting an item of freestanding furniture to fit is impossible. Why waste money on something that doesn’t offer you a solution?
It dates quickly
No, it doesn’t and here’s why: you choose the finish that you like and one that fits with your tastes in interior design. Stick with tried, tested and beautiful wood or opt for something different, with high gloss, coloured doors. Or maybe large mirrored doors are the perfect finish.
Better still when you feel it is dated, you just update the doors – simply choose new ones and have them fitted, and still at a fraction of the cost of buying new furniture.
