How do I Clear Up My Clutter into a Tidy Organised State?
Being tidy and organised is utopia for many people. Being able to find something within seconds rather than spending hours tossing through pile after pile of clutter and ‘stuff’.
Getting on top of it and getting organised is key to being able to find things when you want the and without hours of frustrating searching. You may not think of yourself as ‘naturally tidy’ but often what happens is that because we have nowhere really to store our stuff, we tend to end up with leaning piles of things and heaps of other clutter.
There is a way and here we show you how…
The first step of this process is to a de-clutter, a cathartic process if ever there was one. But it takes time so don’t set your ambitions too high as failure often leads to dejection.
Start with a small part of the room, so a desk or a sideboard etc. and de-clutter than before you move on to another section and so on.
In order to get the best storage solutions for you, you first need to understand what you have so, for an interim measure, place things that you are keeping in cardboard boxes and make sure you label them too to remind you what you have.
Before hit the high street or start shopping online for fabulous storage solutions, you need to make sure you do get rid of the stuff you no longer need – and that means selling things. Giving things away, recycling, donating to charity shops, or however you intend on getting rid of things.
It’s important that you do this as the main problem that people suffer from when they de-clutter is that they don’t complete the full process. They simply move things from one place to another thus meaning you are still struggling for space!
#3 What storage solutions do you need?
This can be a tough question to answer but should, by this point be a little clearer.
The reason why things become so untidy is usually down to
- Lack of time
- Lack of ease of access to story or tidy something away quickly and without hassle
Therefore, the storage solutions you are hunting for need to not only be fit for purpose, but quick and easy to access. This means that a series of pretty cardboard boxes may suffice as a ‘holding place’ for paperwork until you have time to file it away in the correct place.
#4 Being able to see things is important too
Searching for hours for a tiny piece of paper that you saw three weeks ago is no fun for anyone which is why the key to being tidy and being super-organised is being able to see things. Shelving is a great solution, as is labelled boxes and so on.
Of course, the best solution if bespoke, fitted furniture that is designed for and created for you. This way you can be super-organised and amazingly tidy.
