SHOWROOM OPENING TIMES
Creating the Perfect Home Office
More and more of us are choosing to work from home. Waving goodbye to the morning and tea-time commute, we are choosing to work in a small space at home.
And small can be beautiful because, with a lot of our work being done ‘in the cloud’, the days of endless rows of shelving, files and folders are gone. All you have to accommodate is an external hard drive and a few sheets of paper.
But this doesn’t mean the office space needs to be small, poky and lifeless.
Give it character
We assume that because it is a workspace, it has to be a serious space. And that means nothing frivolous or impractical to clutter the space.
However, we think that adding a few elements full of character and quirkiness is ideal for stamping your personality in a space. Let’s not forget that you could be spending hours in this space, thus it needs interest and style just as much as it needs practical and functional elements.
Carrying on from the final point of the above paragraph, in an office environment, you wouldn’t put up with a wonky desk and a chair that was so uncomfortable that after 20 minutes you would have back ache – so why accept these low standards at home?
Bespoke offices are not as expensive as you would think and with the whole office designed around you and how you use the space, there is ample storage. But not only that, it will be ergonomically designed around you too.
Lighting, lighting, lighting
Just like the kitchen, the office space at home needs to have fantastic lighting. However, this doesn’t mean investing in one bright light that is akin to landing strip luminosity.
Natural light in your office will change by the hour, as well as with the seasons. This means investing in different styles of lighting to add illumination when you need it most.
On bright days, you may not need a light but as dusk falls, as well as a pendant light, a more focused light near your desk would be the ideal solution.
Make sure you have flexible lighting solutions that illuminate the office space but without the glare.
In a small space, the less clutter there is on the floor, the bigger the space will look. This means clever furniture solutions which you can achieve with bespoke design.
For example, we have created several bespoke office spaces with a full wall of shelving and across a small portion of the room from one wall to another, a fantastic working platform, complete with integral shelving.
All you have to do is choose the final style and colour.
