SHOWROOM OPENING TIMES
Colour of the Year 2020 – Tranquil Dawn
It’s arrived! Dulux has announced their colour of the year 2020 and it couldn’t be more different from the last year’s colour, Living Coral. Tranquil Dawn is a soft, understated green with a beautiful muted tone that will make it a must for any room. But what about your home? Will it be a colour that you’ll use this year?
If you enjoy a neutral colour palette but want to add a hint of warmth and colour, then Tranquil Dawn is the perfect shade for you. Providing a calming backdrop, it’s understated, yet rich undertones are perfect for any room but the living room could really enjoy the slice of the action.
Mix it with colours equally as understated and neutral but stay with a warm colour selection such as creamy beiges and muted pinks.
If you like the Scandinavian style with light woods, then this is the ideal colour. If you enjoy a minimalist and modern appeal, then this colour works equally as well.
What colours are tipped as being on-trend in 2020?
From the colour of the year, Dulux goes on to announce sets of colour palettes that make decorating a cinch.
The home for care palette consists of several muted, matte shades that sit well alongside Tranquil Dawn. There is a dusty hue to them with the smallest of changes in hue between one and the next but it is this subtle change that makes then perfect partners. From slightly darker shades for a feature wall to lighter shades of pinks and taupe to accent key areas, if you love colour that isn’t overly bold but still makes a statement, you’ll love this choice.
The home for play palette has more boldness to it but the undertones of the colours still have a dusty feed about them. For example, the red in the collection is bold but not bright, the yellow lively but not garish. Muted lavenders and pinks are also featured with classic black also included.
A home for meaning is the third collection for 2020, an inspired choice that truly shows just how clever Dulux is at creating paints that hit all the right notes. Again, they employ subtle changes between this restful palette of colours. Barely-there grey gives way to muted lavender and dusty pink and more. Green can be a difficult colour to get right and whilst too much can be stagnating in a space, Dulux has opted to include an understated, very muted green in the collection.
And finally, the home for creativity palette is perfect for those who want deep, jewel colours. And this collection doesn’t disappoint. Deep purples and maroon nestle side by side with a golden yellow/brown which gives way to a whisper of grey and a toned-down purple. It’s a beautiful spectrum, of which there is no doubt.
There is, as you would expect, something for everyone in the must-have colours for 2020. But which will you choose? Why not take a closer look?
