6 Big Ideas for Small Office Furniture Solutions
More and more of us are choosing to work from home. Whether you have taken the plunge and spend all your time at home or have opted for flexible, part-time home working, you need an office space that works for you.
However, space can be limited and thus you may think that small office furniture solutions are limited too. But not with these big ideas.
#1 Create an office zone
If you are blessed with a box room ripe for conversion to a home office, be clever in where you make your office space. It is completely understandable that you don’t want to make your living room based office into the focal point either.
Thus, the first small office furniture solution is to create a zone that when not in use, melts into the background. To achieve this, choose furniture that is not ‘business-like’ but warm in tone, colour and is complimentary to the room layout.
#2 Dual purpose
Following on from our first point, when space is limited, choosing furniture that offers more than one use is key.
There is nothing wrong with mixing your work stuff with pleasant sculptures and non-work items. The same is true for storage solutions and your office desk.
#3 Storage wall
Display units are ideal for doubling up not just as spaces for books and other oddments but for home office storage too.
For less fuss, choose a bookcase with shelving at various heights or for more details, mix and match shelving with cubes. You don’t want to be looking at work stuff all the time so hide papers and similar stuff behind cupboard doors.
Add some lighting, a perfect way to draw attention away from work bits and bobs.
#4 Underused spaces
If you are stuck on where to locate your home office or are loath to make it part of your living area, then walk around your home spotting all the underused spaces.
From under the stairs - a fantastic nook for a home office if ever there was one! – to a small expanse of space in a room corner etc. that is either empty or void of any use. Fitted furniture solutions for the small office offer a lot of scope, especially in small spaces.
#5 The alcove office
If the alcove is wide enough to sit in, it is wide enough to accommodate a desk. But again, you’ll be hard pushed to find a flat-pack desk that fits perfectly.
The only way to secure the perfect finish and dimensions is to opt for a bespoke built desk. As well as fitting perfectly, it makes the best use of space including wall space above for shelving and storage.
#6 Consider a hideaway solutions
Increasingly popular, the hideaway office takes its main principle from the sliding door of a wardrobe. Sliding doors open fully, allowing you to work unhindered and then, when your day is done, you simply pull the sliding doors shut.
Which of these ideas appeal to you? Have you considered bespoke, fitted office furniture as a solution?
