10 Trends Predicted to be Hot for Office Design in 2019
The one thing about coming to the year’s end is that we start to look forward to the interior design trends coming out way in the New Year. But when it comes to office design, what can we expect to see next year?
#1 Open plan will still be a BIG trend
Loathe it or love it, open plan is here to stay with many designer incorporating open plan design into revamped workspaces. Fitted office furniture works great for zoning areas.
#2 Natural light over ambient light
Designers have been utilising natural light as much as possible in recent months and that looks set to continue. The use of ambient light can bring on headaches as well as being an energy efficiency issue. If you do nothing else in 2019, change the design of your office to maximise light.
#3 Standing stations will be more commonplace
There has been interest in standing desks recently and with the evidence suggesting that standing could be a healthier way of working, we are looking forward to seeing how businesses use standing workstations in their office design in 2019.
#4 Social spaces will be included
Leading on from standing desks is the development of the idea that not all work has to be carried out at a desk. Office design is striking and increasingly social note with many of smaller businesses now taking a lead out of larger businesses who have introduced social workspaces. Could a sofa in the office be the place where productivity peaks?
#5 Break-out spaces offered too
This is more for those following an open plan office design. Open plan works most of the time but there are occasions when you need smaller spaces. Breakout rooms are essential. Opt for glass partitions if you want enclosed spaces or fitted office furniture to zone areas.
#6 Branded office spaces for everyone
Branding the workspace is not just for big players – every business, no matter what shape and size, will benefit from a branded workspace. When you design your new office space, think how it fits with your brand voice and ethos – and yes, add the logo and use the colour palette you decided on for your brand.
#7 Good quality furniture will be priority
In fact, don’t just opt for good, opt for the best office furniture! Ergonomically designed so that productivity and work tasks flow but the body is supported, using the best quality furniture also ensure the best quality finish and impression.
#8 Thinking outside the box will give fresh design ideas
All too often, the finish product is an office that looks great but has a corporate edge that is hard and linear. Mood-boosting additions such as the use of plants. Don’t bother with plastic – you simply have to use real plants!
#9 Storage solutions will become more adaptable and versatile
On one hand, you want a great looking office but on the other, you also need one that gives you storage solutions too. In your design, incorporate versatile, adaptive and accessible storage from open shelving to streamlined cupboards.
#10 Finishing touches will be key
Office design has to tick many boxes – it has to be fluid, stylish, in keeping with your brand voice and values but also fun. So don’t underestimate the finishing touches such as cube as part of open shelving and stylish drawer handles and similar.
