SHOWROOM OPENING TIMES
10 Interior Design Trends Coming Our Way Winter 2018
To show off your fitted furniture and bespoke designed kitchen and bathroom, you want it to be surrounded by accessories and colour that let it shine. We have the winter 2018 interior design trends tipped to be hot…
#1 Moodier, darker palettes of colour
Think deep muddy brown and very earthy greens, along with the shimmer of midnight navy and you won’t be far wrong in the colours coming our way this winter.
Layer it with golds and brassy finishes to lift it from sullen to glamorous, perfect for retreating to when the wind is cold and the rain lashing down.
#2 The must-have autumnal colour: maple
Autumn is a time of fantastic colour and so the autumnal colours of maple, copper, brass and gold are not to be pushed into a corner.
For a lighter, brighter room with warmth, opt for colours with red and yellow undertones but keep the hue darker than you normally would.
#3 Unusual textures
You’ll have seen some intriguing textures coming your way in the glossy pages of interior design magazines and maybe even in the homeware aisle. You may look at the sequin cushions with suspicion but it seems that the unusual textures are here to stay.
Use sparingly but the luxurious throw, along with the occasional sequin or two is not to be underestimated this coming season.
#4 Navy blue
What can we say? Timeless, elegant, beautiful. And perfect for a feature wall, especially in the bedroom.
#5 Bold colour combinations
However, if navy blue and the other darker shades are not your thing, you are in luck because the 80s colour palette of bold contrasting colours are back in fashion - and right on trend for the interior of your home.
#6 Heritage tastes
For some time, we have enjoyed the casual delight of minimalism and modern interior styles.
If that is feeling a little jaded and passé, why not opt for the heritage look?
Winter is all about hunkering down against the storms outside and so against the backdrop of fitted living room furniture, introduce some older piece like antique vases or fluted table lamps.
#7 Wiping the slate clean
De-cluttering is the name of the game but for many of us, it isn’t so much decluttering but finally getting to grips with accessible, usable and stylish storage solutions in the home.
Leather sofa, leather armchair. Leather trench coats. You name it, the must-have fabric is leather. And no wonder, it ages well and has timeless appeal.
#9 Floral patterns
They are still around and it was 2018 that finally transformed the floral pattern from 70s chintz to 21st-century modern. If you opt for any patterned fabric this winter, make it floral.
Is sequin cushions make your blood run cold, wave hello to floral print cushions instead.
#10 Blankets and throws, layered to perfection
Frankly, who doesn’t snuggle under layers of blankets whilst watching TV or reading a novel on a winter’s evening?
From faux fur throws to chunky knits, add plenty of throws but keep the materials similar and the colours on trend and you have layers of luxurious texture for any room.
